what is an acurite device

What is an AcuRite Device

An AcuRite Connection Device (AcuRite Access, smartHUB, PC Connect). However, is a standalone device that collects data from AcuRite indoor and outdoor monitoring sensors.

Also, transfers it to My AcuRite and Weather Underground via its network (internet) connection.

How it Works

1. The unique 12-character Device ID of a Connection Device is associated with your My AcuRite account.

2. Once you’ve added the Connection Device to your account, go to the device’s profile and add your AcuRite sensor (s).

Therefore, once a sensor is connected to a Connection Device, we transfer its readings to My AcuRite. Also, allowing you to view and monitor its readings and status from your My AcuRite account‌.

3. Each Connection Device has its own tab on the Dashboard. However, they must create a Weather Underground sharing profile in My AcuRite before a Connection Device. Also, you can communicate its received sensor readings to Weather Underground.

4. AcuRite Access device – supports up to seven (7) AcuRite sensors that are suitable. Get the AcuRite Access Quick Installation Guide.

5. AcuRite smartHUB – supports up to ten (10) AcuRite sensors that are compatible. Download the AcuRite smartHUB Quick Installation Guide.

6. PC Connect – program that sends (uploads) readings from a single 5-in-1 Weather Station to My AcuRite and Weather Underground.

Therefore, they sent readings over your computer’s network (internet) connection using the PC Connect software. Also, installed on your computer and the USB connection between your computer and the Indoor Display.

A PC Connect Device Connection is linked to your My AcuRite. Therefore, account for the 5-in-1 Indoor Display’s unique 12-character Device ID. After you’ve added the PC Connect Connection Device to your account, you may connect your 5-in-1 sensor to it.

AcuRite Indoor and Outdoor Monitoring Sensors

AcuRite sensors collect data at the point of installation. The readings are received and sent to My AcuRite by an AcuRite Connection Device (AcuRite Access, smartHUB, or PC Connect).

When configured to share with the Weather Underground, a Connection Device communicates (uploads) outdoor data from a sensor directly to Weather Underground.

However, your AcuRite sensors are listed in two categories on the profile of a Connection Device: My Sensors and Sensors.

My Sensors – displays a list of the sensors that have been connected to the Connection Device. Sensor data is being transmitted to your My AcuRite account. Also, to view sensor readings via My AcuRite, they must connect the sensor to a Connection Device.

Therefore, available Sensors – displays a list of sensors that have not yet been added to the Connection Device. If the Connection Device is an AcuRite Access or smartHUB device. Also, the sensors shown are within the device’s wireless range.

However, the readings are not being transferred to My AcuRite. When utilizing PC Connect. Therefore, my AcuRite sharing is allowed in the PC Connect software. Also, the 5-in-1 Weather Station readings are not delivered to your My AcuRite account.

How Often are Sensor Readings Sent to My AcuRite?

However, the frequency at which they transmitted sensor values to My AcuRite (upload frequency) is determined by the type of AcuRite Connection Device used.

AcuRite Access – Every 5 minutes, they uploaded the most current received readings to My AcuRite.

Calculated reading kinds like Dew Point and Feels Like are computed locally by the device and uploaded to My AcuRite. Reading computations are based on all sensor readings taken throughout each 5-minute interval.

Rainfall, light intensity, and lightning readings are posted to My AcuRite as an accumulative sum of readings got during each 5-minute interval.

When an AcuRite Access device is powered by battery backup or is not connected to a network (internet). Therefore, they do not send their readings (uploaded) to My AcuRite or Weather Underground.

During battery backup mode or when the device is not connected to a network (internet). Also, it continues to receive readings and stores up to 12 hours of readings (recorded readings) in its local memory. When the AC power or network (internet) connection is restored, they transfer all. Also, logged readings (uploaded) to My AcuRite. Weather Underground does not receive logged readings.

AcuRite smartHUB – it posted Readings to My AcuRite when the smartHUB receives a reading from an AcuRite outdoor or indoor monitoring device (sensor). Therefore, the upload frequency is determined by the reading frequency of each sensor.

PC Connect (only for use with a 5-in-1 weather station). Also, 5-in-1 Weather Station readings are delivered to PC Connect via the USB connection. Therefore, between the Indoor Display and your computer.

Therefore, they posted readings to My AcuRite via the network (internet) connection on your computer. It must activate my AcuRite sharing in the PC Connect software before using PC Connect.

However, the upload frequency is determined by the reading frequency of each of the 5-in-1 sensors.
