Comments:
I use a Garmin Oregon for cycle tours of thousands of miles, and day rides of up to 200 miles. Sometimes I find on short notice that I need to acquire and load the GPX track of a detour or a shortcut, from RideWithGps or from a bike club website. Previously I have done that with a little OTG cable that connects the Garmin as an external storage device to the smartphone. But Gimporter/Gexporter is better because it is safe to use in the rain, and does not require carrying the OTG cable.
Let's me transfer gpx tracks to my Garmin flawlessly, have used my watch to hike around the world for years thanks to this app!
Not working without wifi. Needs to have at least wifi access, otherwise play online fails. Might be a limitation of Garmin Connect which have to be running in background. My use case: Offroad tracking. Planning using offline maps, navigation using Forerunner 945.
Why does the phone from which the gpx file is being exported need to be connected to the internet? The gpx file to be exported is on the phone. If the phone is disconnected from the internet, when the gimporter app on the Garmin device is opened, the file can be seen on the Garmin as available to download, but then the play online always fails. I hoped this app would allow me to export files without an internet connection, but it does not, hence only 3 stars
Excellent app. Very easy to use and works perfectly to transfer files to my Forerunner. Makes it so easy to load courses on my watch. Highly recommended.'
