Comments:
I love this app but I beg the dev to stop asking me to buy the audio pack after every single word. This effectively makes the app unusable. Edit: Wait 30s (still a little annoying that you can't just close out) and the message no longer appears after each subsequent word. Overall still a wonderful tool I have used for quite some time.
I would rate it 5 stars but the recent update is trash. It's still a solid app, but a few problems is the long wait time when coming across audio pack words. It's misplaced in my opinion, it shouldn't be placed in the middle of a learning session but instead it should have been moved to the main menu or even upon opening the app. The 30 second wait could deter people from wanting to learn. Also the addition to the kanji writing system. I understand its helpful to learn how to write kanji but some people use it for vocabulary srs learning. There isn't a way to custom tailor it to remove those reviews from the review chart. So now i have over 200 reviews from kanji writing even though the option is disabled in my settings. The only way to clear it, is to enable it and go through the long process of manually drawing kanji. The pacing is also different now as well, immediately after you learn a word another shows up and it never was that quick before the update.
This app is amazing for studying Japanese!! It really keeps it varied between reading/writing/listening so you get good practice in all of those and don't get bored doing the same old thing. I really like how you can dismiss a word if you already know it well! I have had no problems with it crashing.
Nice app to learn new vocab and kanji, but the handwriting section is off on some words. Random lines and strokes are accepted as correct answers The price for audio is ridiculious. 14 lists at $3.49 comes out to near$50. You're better off spending on other apps that offer a much lower price for way more than audio. Also wish learning and reviewing were in seperate catogories. Once you finish your review, you're forced to learn new vocab without being able to go over old stuff til next day.
It's a must have if you're learning Japanese, worth paying a few bucks to have good audio and kanji writing practice. Plus the difficulty of the writing practice changes as you go. So if it had 先生 for the first time it would show the english and the kanji as an outline and you trace it. Then after a few times of having that word come it will draw it but won't stay up to trace so you have to write it. Then after a few more it will just tell you the english word teacher and you write the kanji"
