BeaN Informer (Poznan University of Economics) play online

BeaN is a generic information system to be used at the locations of Poznan University of Economics and Business, Poznan, Poland. The system uses several indoor geo-location methods, namely NFC (Near Field Communication) tags, QR codes and BLE beacons (Estimote variant) to determine local place. Based on place and current time, the system is able to deliver right information with almost no user interaction.
Currently, BeaN informer is used to deliver the following information:
-basic schedule for university classes, for the tagged locations,
-conference information (for the conferences organized by the university),
-PeKA ("Poznanska Karta Aglomeracyjna") information about real schedule of buses and trams in Poznan city.
In addition, BeaN provides generic voting system for the students and university teachers.
BeaN system is accessible only from the WiFi network of the university. It is not possible to use the system outside university campus.
The system is free of charge and may be used by the students and the staff of the university, as well as university guests and visitors.
BeaN is available in Polish and English national languages, to be chosen at the first run, just after installation, and afterwards at any time by means of the configuration panel.
BeaN requests the following rights:
-geo-location determination, related to the usage of BLE beacons,
-BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) access in administrator mode (to run BLE scanner),
-NFC reader access (to detect and read NFC tags),
-photo camera usage (to manually scan QR codes),
-WiFi access (to connect to the university wireless network) and determination (to check if any WiFi connection is available at the moment).
BeaN does not ask for any private information, such as address book, private files and folders, photos, etc.
