Medieval Battle Commander is a turn based strategy game using historically accurate weapons and troops of Europe during the Late Middle Ages. The goal of Medieval Battle Commander was to create a mobile app strategy game that is easy to learn but includes different maps and missions to continue to challenge the player. Medieval Battle Commander is a strategy game that requires the player to create and adapt battle strategies to successfully defeat the enemy.

The maps and missions are custom built, but unlike the weapons and armor, have no historical accuracy. Each map is unique with many geographical features designed to test the player's abilities in troop movement and deployment.

The game includes 4 maps and 12 missions. All missions must be unlocked in order and once the mission is unlocked, the player can replay the mission at any time. A medal system is used to keep track of the player's progress on each map and record the difficulty level the map was played at. Medieval Battle Commander also includes 3 in-app purchases that add new mission packs. Each mission pack contains 4 new maps plus an additional 12 or 13 missions. The in-app purchases also contain new troops and weapons for added challenge and excitement. As an added bonus, the in-app purchase allows the user to replay any mission as the opposing army, providing additional game time.

A mission is played on one of the 16 available maps. Both the player and the computer have objectives they need to complete for each map. The goal is for the player to accomplish their objectives before the computer completes their objectives. The player will need to traverse grasslands, travel around mountains and build bridges to reach their objectives. Castles, villages and mines are some of the objectives that can be found on the grasslands. These objectives are important for the player to reach because this is where they can heal troops, refill arrows and purchase new troops to help finish the mission. The Commander will need to develop a strategy of how to use troops, weapons and movement to capture an objective while the enemy blocks their way.

Two exciting components of the game are the battle scenes and archer shooting scenes. These are critical events during a mission that will determine who is victorious. During a battle scene, each team will put their weapons and armor to the test. It is important for the Commander to decide when to use each weapon and armor against what the enemy chooses to defend with. In some cases, you may need to sacrifice troops so the archers are free to shoot volleys of arrows onto the enemy. Each battle involves considerable strategy to come out victorious.

Shields and helmets can be added to the troops to increase the total amount of damage they can take. Cavalry and mounted archers are available in two of the missions packs and they create a new level of strategy due to their increased movement and speed. The choices of troops, weapons, armor and mounted troops provide the Battle Commander with many options when entering battle.
