The Sloper Outdoor Rock Climbing Guide App aims to bring your guide book to life with a news feed of new route activity, hardware safety issues, quality ratings, grade consensus and an interactive ascent logging and tick list creation.

Premium areas include, Yosemite (CA), Kalymnos (Greece), SE Queensland (Australia), Banff and The Bow Valley (Canada), Skaha (Canada), Nevada Limestone Sport Climbing, Ontario Climbing (Canada), Niagara Glen Bouldering (Canada), and Clear Creek Canyon (CO).

When using the App, climbers will have access to Sport and Traditional climbs where they can not only log their ascents but report maintenance issues on the route's bolts and anchors. As fellow climbers use the App they will be notified of an issue as soon as it has been logged as an alert to possibly avoid climbing on that particular route.

Comments:

app is relatively responsive at this point, the photo topos are nice, and the clear creek data is great with the integrated map. the routes are missing length descriptions, safety ratings for trad routes, and the pricing model is straight up punitive. i already own the clear creek guidebook and would definitely not spring for the subscription model for the extra app data. if you can buy the apps in the guidebook outright thisbwould be an entirely different story. check out the gunks apps

It crashes my phone over and over again. Tried restarting, reinstalling but nothing works. It restarts my phone as "loading crags" is displayed. Phone is cat s41. A bit of an odd ball but this is the first time i have an issue with an app. Update Aug 26: problem got addressed and fixed. Now it all works. I have a few topos downloaded already and can access them offline. Handy way to keep track of a bucket list for climbs to do as to not overload my memory and look at future climbs while at work!

I think it has potential but as it is it just isn't that great. How do I find individual walls at certain climbing areas (am I supposed to just use the photo topo?)? Why even include certain walls if you don't have a photo topo? I found some route info was wrong. And why include multipitches when the pitch beta is squeezed into 5 scrollable lines? Overall I think the guidebooks are way better, there's no way I would pay $24 a year for this app. It still needs some more work.

The first time when loading it, it just stopped. After restarting the phone, it then fully loaded. Only containes routes for Canada, USA, Australia and Greece (Kalimnos). You can only find routes by zooming into a map and then you will only see a name. I have not figured out how to see rooute detail yet. It would be better if one could search for a route by name and by grade.

Beware. If you play online this it will automatically charge you $5 after thr trial period. Very sneaky. On the app front i tried to use it but ended up buying the guide books. Biggest complaint is even if it does have a picture of the route it only shows that route and not the others aroud it so it can be hard to landmark. I tried it for a day then never "canceled my subscription" so now however many days later i iust paid $4.99 for something I dont use. Would not recommend.'
